Former prime minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, was given bail after the government issued an arrest warrant after remarks against several police officers and a judge during a rally in Islamabad. Imran Khan was removed from office after a “no-confidence” vote by the Pakistani opposition. Thousands of people protested against the removal of Khan and Khan has rallied his supporters in jalsas (????). Islamabad police ordered Khan to appear in court on October 7.
During a jalsa in Islamabad, Khan allegedly threatened police forces and Judge Zeba Chaudhry for arresting and allegedly torturing member of his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf or PTI, Shahbaz Gill. This was taken course by a “terrorism case” against Khan, in which Khan claimed was a main goal by the opposition in removing him from politics. Khan has held rallies across the country in which his supporters are constantly calling for the step down of the country’s new prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif.
On October 2, Islamabad police issued a arrest warrant against Khan on the “terrorism” charges. This came after a series of rallies across the Pakistani province of Punjab. Khan also was seen at court in September, denying any threats on the judge and police officers. Amid economic crisis and recently a flood, the Pakistani economic crisis had forced Khan to rally support for his cause against ‘corruption’ in Pakistan. Shehbaz was previously sentenced to ten years for corruption during Khan’s leadership.
